March 2026 Roundup
March was a busy and productive month for The Adair Club, with strong representation across the province, new members joining the ranks, and plenty of opportunities to get involved both inside and outside the lodge.
Visits, Ritual & Festive Boards
The month began with members visiting Calderley Chapter in Clevedon, continuing Adair’s focus on supporting meetings across Somerset. A highlight was a demonstration evening on the formation of Grand Lodge, complete with period dress and a detailed look at historical ritual practices.
The festive board that followed was one of the most well-attended in recent memory – with “Pro Tempore!” quickly becoming the phrase of the night.
Socials That Matter
The monthly social at The Sawyers Arms in Nailsea once again proved its value. Open to members, partners, and prospective brethren, these evenings provide a relaxed setting to build connections and welcome new faces.
Held on the first Monday of each month, they remain one of the simplest ways to get involved with the club.
Working Tools Challenge
March saw strong participation in the PGM’s Working Tools Challenge, with several brethren completing or progressing through the degrees:
- Henry completed all three degrees and received his badge from the Deputy Provincial Grand Master
- Mike Norton stepped in at short notice to deliver the 2nd degree tools
- Andy Reid . . . South East Area Rep
- Lee Hart completed the challenge, encouraging others to also take the leap.
- Peter Wilcox both completed the full challenge with badge presentation at Tynte Lodge
The initiative continues to do exactly what it was designed for – giving newer members a structured and supportive way to learn ritual and take part in lodge meetings with confidence.
London Visit – Somersetshire Lodge
A number of Adair members travelled to London to visit Somersetshire Lodge at Mark Masons’ Hall. The day included time at Grand Lodge, lunch in St James’s, and the meeting itself.
The visit was well supported and well received, with many already keen to make it an annual fixture.
New Members
March brought a steady intake of new brethren joining the club, including Craig, Josh, Dan, Paul and Shane among others. As always, new members were added to the Adair network quickly and encouraged to attend meetings and events across the province.
Adair Academy Launch
The first Adair Academy session took place this month, led by Michael Beasley. The session focused on practical memorisation techniques and core ritual elements, including first degree tools and second degree questions.
Feedback was strong, and the next session is planned for 21st April.
Supporting the Province
Adair members continue to support Fraternal Provincial Visits across Somerset, attending in good numbers and helping strengthen links between lodges.
